To find out everything from Care and Respect, When to Fly the Flag to How to Fold the Flag, go to the         American Flags Web site.

Turn Off the Tube
A new study, conducted by the National Institute on Media and the Family, suggests the removal of television sets from children's bedrooms. The study cites the following negative effects:
  • Children watch five-and-a-half more hours of TV per week.
  • Parents are less able to monitor their children's viewing habits.
  • Parents are less able to be consistent with rules for watching media.
  • Children participate in fewer activities other than watching TV.
  • Children do poorly in school.

Clue Into Safety

Interactive Web Site Reinforces Kids' Safety Knowledge
Nickelodeon, the number one kids' entertainment brand, and Ford Motor Company's Ford Division have joined forces to educate children and parents about safety. Featuring Blue of the children's television show Blue's Clues as the 'spokespuppy,' the companies have teamed to bring about a variety of safety tips, an interactive Web site on safety featuring Blue's Clues characters, and games and activities with a safety theme. Visit the Front Seat area, where parents will find valuable information gathered from a number of organizations that are dedicated to educating the public about safety. The site includes downloadable information on vehicle safety, home and school safety, water safety and much more. There are also interactive games children can play to reinforce the safety themes.
